About Me
Thank you for stopping by. My name is Anne Logan, and like you, I adore reading books.
When I was little I would take out book stacks taller than myself at my local library. My love of reading carried me through high school, and I completed a bachelor of arts in English Literature at Queen’s University, then went on to complete a post-graduate certificate in Creative Book Publishing at Humber College in Toronto.
I was lucky enough to land an internship at Cormorant Books straight out of school, then I moved to Calgary and became the Artistic Associate at Wordfest, a local literary festival that’s a cornerstone of the publishing industry in Alberta. I worked at Wordfest for 5 years, eventually becoming their Programming Manager.
When I left Wordfest in 2013 I started this blog, a place where I post my reviews of recently released books. In addition to reviewing books online, I review for publications such as Alberta Views, Freefall Magazine, and Quill and Quire. I’m also the books columnist for CBC Calgary where I chat all things literary on the Homestretch radio program, as well as the CBC News at 6 broadcast.
I consider myself extremely lucky to do what I do; I don’t work a day in my life because reading is my passion! I’m currently the Associate Director of Development at the Calgary Public Library Foundation. I also try to give back to the writing and publishing community as much as possible through my volunteer work. I am a Past President of the Writers’ Guild of Alberta Board of Directors, and a past member of the Calgary Reads Board of Directors. I currently sit on board of Calgary Arts Development Authority and I am also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club where I sit on the Early Childhood Literacy Committee.
My favourite author is David Sedaris, and I never read a book twice, there’s just too many darn books out there left to read! I don’t watch a lot of television, but when I do, I love the classic Murder She Wrote. Aside from books, I also consume chocolate daily, and although I don’t have any at the moment, I also love cats, and look forward to my children getting a bit older so we can adopt another one (cat, that is). Originally from Southern Ontario, I now live in Calgary with my two children and my wonderful husband.
I’d love to hear from you!
