  1. Last week I “discovered” some treasure in my reading too, having finally gotten to Tom Sawyer (after having stalled a bajillions times when I was a kid…I wasn’t into classics, I loved series and boarding school stories lol) which has quite a long scene in a cave with Huck and, well, nearly doubloons. Something like that anyway.
It’s fun to have an easy read on a holiday. And sometimes I enjoy that sense of reading the “It Book”!

    1. I’ve never read Tom Sawyer! Is it one I could read with my kids aloud do you think?

  2. Sometimes a fast-paced plot is all that’s needed – especially while relaxing on a beach! Tell me what it’s like to be warm in the sun… I’ve forgotten… 😉

    1. well being warm in the sun is always a treat, however! I got a bit of sunstroke that day, which is weird because I spent most of it under an umbrella, reading this book. Us pale Canadians aren’t meant to be in the hot Mexican sun all day, we aren’t used to it!

  3. I don’t know that I’d ever considered how the place you read a book can influence how you feel about it or your approach to it. I’m glad you had a fun book to read at the beach!

    1. It’s funny, I think the location I read books almost always has an influence on how I feel about it. I may have been a little harder on this one had I been sitting in my reading chair, starting out at the snowy vista outside LOL

    1. Well I think the question of whether plot-driven fiction is fashionable at the moment is up for debate – at least the bestseller lists say plots are still popular :)
