  1. “a grouchy pet cat that seems to ruin her owner’s life, yet it remains the most treasured part of her small existence” Why did this make me think of me little Tuppence?? ;)

    1. I think alot of people can relate to this story actually. the cat poops inside the mattress of the owner every day, but she puts up with it LOL

  2. The author Bonnie Jo Campbell writes about an area in Michigan that’s about 75 minutes away from me, and I always love reading her stories because I feel like I not only know the landscape, but understand the people intimately. I know moving 200 miles to just across the border of Michigan into Indiana doesn’t seem like there could be much difference, but culturally, the difference was enormous, and Nick and I felt unanchored here for many, many years.

    1. I believe that would make one feel unanchored! Borders can sometimes be simply borders, but they can also delineate cultural differences, accents, even a state of mind. I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves reading locally :)

  3. I think she wrote a collection of essays too? If I am thinking of the right author, I think you’d really enjoy the essays too! They struck a great balance between poignant and humourous. Which it sounds like these stories do too.

  4. This collection sounds great. You did an excellent job setting up each story, tempting me! I’ll have to look for this. And how cool that it’s so hyper local to you!
