Not much to say here-anyone familiar with the author D.H. Lawrence? If so, then you’ll probably like this short story. And sorry for the lack of cats in these videos, they are hard to wrangle now that the holidays are here, I guess they’re busy Christmas shopping or something…
Great review tonight, Anne. You are definitely well into that cold but you pulled it all together. Question: how does one get ahold or purchase this advent series? I can definitely do short stories. 👍🏼
You can purchase it from their website! I believe it might be too late, but there’s always next year 🙂 https://www.hingstonandolsen.com/home
Thanks for the post.
thanks for watching and reading!
I was a huge fan of DH Lawrence in my teens and from what I recall I suspect he really was kinda unpleasant and whiny. Lad Chatterley was only unbanned in the 1960s and boy, it’s considerably more than smutty! Haha – I quite enjoyed it way back in the day, but I suspect I’d hate it with every fibre of my being now… 😉
What in particular makes his writing smut? I’m also trying to reconcile the smut with a whiny dude. Lovely tree! 🌲
thank you! I’ll let FictionFan weigh in on this too, but he basically just writes about sex, and very explicitly about female genitalia, from what I recall
Yes, indeed, as Anne says lots of absolutely graphic sex and lots and lots and lots of female genitalia – though he generally uses a much shorter and… earthier term for it! 😉 It’s way beyond smut! But there is a kinda serious story in there too, about the aftermath of WW1 and Britain’s attitude to class, but it kinda gets lost amidst the sex. It must have been incredibly shocking at the time – even when I was reading it in the ’70s, I had to hide it from my mother… 😀
Did your mom even find it? What would she have done?? Mom stories, please!
haha yes I think this could be a good story!
Haha – she would have disapproved… silently… *shudders*
yes, I can just imagine how people would have reacted to this decades ago-spicy!!!
hahah whiny is the perfect description of him in this book, that’s for sure
Your tree is lovely! I’m glad you’re enjoying these stories. What a fun way to bookishly celebrate Christmas!
agreed! and thank you for the compliment, the tree is fake, but holds most of my family’s heirloom ornaments so its very special to me 🙂
Ok, I am now very much behind… 🙁
This one sounds good, and your tree is lovely! Sorry about your cold – maybe by now you’re feeling better.
haha no worries, it’s hard keeping up! I am feeling a bit better thank you 🙂
