  1. Nice review! I have never read Jenkins Reid before, although I tried Malibu Rising and wasn’t in the mood for it. I’ll keep her on my “maybe one day” list for now. :)

    1. I’m shocked you’ve never read her before Laila! I think you would like her, but don’t read Malibu Rising first that wasn’t very highly regarded. Definitely start with Seven Husbands :)

  2. Your review made me think of two things: 1) When NASA asked Sally Ride if 100 tampons would be enough to get her through one week in space, and 2) a book I’m currently reading called Why We Can’t Wait, which contains essays by Martin Luther King, Jr. He mentions how some people in the Black community at the time are not working with the peaceful protesters, which reminded me of your comment about women sabotaging each other in the NASA program.

    1. Ok that thing about NASA not knowing how many tampons a woman uses on average is SO hilarious, and I actually think about that alot. Like whenever anyone suggests women have nothing to complain about anymore, I just think of this.

Interesting about the Martin Luther King Jr. observation – although I’m not surprised either. I think it’s really unfair (and unrealistic) of us to think that marginalized groups should always respond in the same, positive way to being marginalized, or that they should do the ‘right’ thing. White men have never acted, or responded as a whole, they are fractured, so why would the groups they dismiss or marginalize react in a ‘better’ way? Know what i mean?
