Holiday Advent Calendar Unveiling: December 25!!!!
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!!!!
I don’t mind a true crime book now and then. I definitely prefer the fictional thriller or detective novel over the factual, but every once in awhile a case catches my interest, and Murder at Teal’s Pond by David Bushman and Mark T. Givens did just that. It describes the murder and investigation of the…
This book surprised me. Based on its cover, and its publisher (Cormorant Books), I was expecting a very literary novel, something with drawn out descriptions and hidden meanings, usually a bit slower in pace. Instead, I found a page-turner of a novel in The Good Son by Carolyn Huizinga Mills, something I raced to finish,…
The phrase ‘love marriage’ means different things to different people, but in the context of the book Love Marriage by Monica Ali, it refers to the fact that Yasmin’s Indian parents formed a relationship based on love alone; an assumption for many, but a radical idea for some. Is this the goal for everyone: to…
Wowza, ok this video is way more up-close and personal than I had hoped for this early in the morning. No make-up, not even brushed teeth in this one, but I really enjoyed today’s short story so you have a glowing review to look forward to. Oh, and Smokey makes an appearance too, as does…
There’s a couple reasons I picked up this book and most of them are quite shallow. Number one: the cover is gold glitter with neon pink lettering, which obviously caught my eye. Number two: the title is hilarious, and I knew that I could get on board with this author’s humor right away. So…I read…
Is there any greater pleasure than reading a book by your favourite author? Probably, but whenever a David Sedaris book is released, even one that’s only a selection of previously-released stories, I celebrate! He is my favourite author, and it’s my goal to one day see him read live. The Best of Me still held…

O. Henry is a very famous short story writer whose work is so revered that there is a coveted prize named after him. I hope you read more of his work! He was in prison for five years and wrote using his pen name so people wouldn’t know he was connected to his crimes (embezzlement). He’s best known for the twist ending and made it famous!
oh man! Thank you for this wealth of information. Did you like how I compared him to a chocolate bar? haha
My husband and I laughed our booties off 😂 I got him into the nightly advent calendar at the end 😊
glad to hear!
I’m willing to bet that Herschey kiss is long gone by now…
Well done! I enjoyed watching your daily vids, even if I didn’t always get there on the right day! I’m going to blame the time difference… ;) Belated Merry Christmas to Smokey and Pearl… oh, and to you and your family, of course! :D
Thank you! I actually still have that hershey kiss, but just because I’ve been working away on other chocolates in the meantime :) Thanks for watching!
Hershey’s Kisses are uniquely associated with Christmas for me, since I always got them in my stocking as a child, and so I’ve eaten quite a lot of them this month, ha ha! That big one is intimidating! Do you cut that with a knife? :)
oh no, I just smashed it like the animal I am haha
I’m very impressed that you made it to the end! I admit that I didn’t get to watch them all, but figured I should at least watch the last one to see if you were still happy and smiling, or if you were haggard and grouchy by the end. Good to see you smiling! I really should buy the advent calander myself, but I just get so little reading time around the holidays. But I suppose I don’t *have* to read them on the right days…
I think I have a couple of O, Henry stories around here – I should read them sometime! :)
Happy 2018!!
Thanks, Happy New Year!
