Video Book Review: Short Story & Chocolate Advent Calendar Re-Cap
As in past years, I’m continuing with the short story advent calendar this holiday season. I’ve also decided to go local with my chocolate advent calendar, so I’m highlighting the wonderful treats that Calgary-based The Chocolate Lab has to offer in their advent calendar. It’s worth the price tag of 60 bucks! As you will see in some of my photos, the chocolates are beautiful and taste just as good as they look. And of course the short story advent calendar is also by local publisher Hingston and Olsen, but it features authors from all around the world. I’m very happy with both advent calendars this first week, but we’ll have to see where the rest of December takes us. For a day-by-day summary of my advent calendars, head to my twitter or instagram accounts. I’ll do my best to post one video per week on youtube and here on the blog as well.
Nice chocs, but pricey! I’m currently addicted to Peppermint Aerobubbles – are they available in your neck of the woods?
Like an Aero bar? They’re green on the outside aren’t they? ! love them! ONe of my favs is still your ‘twirl’ bar in the shiny purple package, or the flake in the yellow package, they are hard to find here…
Yes, green on one half of the globe and choc on the other – yum! I love Twirls too and they’re way less messy than Flakes. :D
Yup, very true, I don’t like the flakiness of the flakes LOL
Now that seems like a chocolate advent calendar I could get behind!
right? So delicious!
How to hide it from the kids though?😆
I am so pleased with myself that I immediately located the duckie. Three years in a row, baby!
Does it seem like the stories all tie in with something wintery so far? I know in past years you were wondering why certain stories even ended up in the advent calendar.
Nope, many of the stories aren’t wintery or Christmasy at all. I’ve also noticed that so far this year most of the authors are American? No canadians yet it seems.
That would drive me bonkers. Put out a call for winter-themed stories! It’s not that hard; publishers and magazines do it all the time.
I was wondering where those delicious looking chocolates were coming from! I would pay $60 for those! The advent stories look beautiful this year, too.
The design of the short story advent calendar this year is definitely my favourite! The colours are gorgeous
It looks exceptionally beautiful this year. Part of me wishes that the stories were all by Canadian authors, but I understand why that’s not necessarily a great marketing decision.
I’m really disappointed by the lack of Canadian authors so far, but I guess if they aren’t pitching, you can’t force it…
