  1. I often wonder why authors or editors choose the order that they do in books or short stories. I always find that the first story affects how I’m going to feel about the whole collection, and yet quite often they seem to put the weakest story at the beginning, or like this one, a story that doesn’t quite convey what the theme of the collection is going to be. I’m glad you liked the collection overall, despite its unbalanced feeling.

  2. It almost sounds like this book is just about big animal vets, which is totally different from a small veterinary practice. It seems like big vets often work alone or with one assistant, whereas small vets will have like a whole team of people because you can’t just see one small animal at a time. You have them in different rooms sort of like dentist does.

    1. The rural vets did see small animals too, but this book also focused on the tiring ‘calving season’ when they had to constantly be travelling to farms to help animals give birth. I learned a lot! LOL

  3. This does seem like an odd choice of stories to put together. When I hear vet stories I think of James Herriot but this is obviously very different!
