Holiday Advent Calendar Unveiling: December 20
This video is one of my longest yet, but I feel like I say next to nothing in it. Probably because I had no idea how to describe the science fiction story I just read in the advent calendar; it is literally out of this world! I know you’re groaning at the pun, but seriously, I didn’t get it at all. At least I washed my hair today?
This whole month I’ve been like, “Yay, Kelly Link!”
Honestly, that doesn’t sound like a Link story at all. She usually does twists on fairy tales or has a ghost in the attic–that sort of thing. I don’t think I’ve ever read a science fiction story by Link, actually! Hmmmm. Sorry it was a bummer.
oh ghosts in the attic sounds great! Sigh, I’m glad I didn’t miss the mark entirely on this one then.
I think her collection Stranger Things Happen is the most put together. I like Magic for Beginners, but every story feels like the ending is missing! You turn the page and BOOM, it’s a different story.
Well, it’s available online so I couldn’t resist and I must tell you… I haven’t a clue what it’s about! And while I’m no expert, I read more sci-fi than you. The only thing I can think is that it’s dedicated to Iain M Banks, so maybe it connects to his science fiction world in some way – but since I’ve never read his books that doesn’t help much! An odd choice for the advent calendar – I reckon a story about Santa would have been much more fun… 🎅
Right???
