  1. I’m catching up on blog posts so I just read this. I’m so sorry! Having gone through my own loss recently I definitely empathize. Pearl was so cute as a kitten and grew into an absolutely beautiful cat! I know you and Smokey will miss her. Our cats are definitely part of the family. Blessings to you and your family!

    1. yes I thought of you as I was reading this-you will know exactly how I feel!

  2. I’m so sorry to hear this. She was a beautiful cat and I always liked seeing her model with the books! They become members of our family and it’s so hard to say good-bye.

  3. Oh, my. I am so sorry to hear about Pearl, that she had been coping with illness for awhile and that it became too much for her. As soon as I saw the title of your post, I started to tear up and was just hoping that she was announcing her retirement from public book-duty. Poor Pearl, poor you, poor husband, poor Smokey. Such a hard, hard time. Perhaps adopting a greater responsibility for book-related duties will help distract Smokey from the loss (although I don’t believe anything can hasten/lessen it when one is very attached). The pictures are beautiful.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. Yes, Pearl was very dear to us, but Smokey seems to be doing surprisingly well on her own now! Perhaps the extra book duties are lifting her spirits, as you suggested :)
