2018 Holiday Advent Calendar Unveiling: December 2

We’re onto day #2! And I know i’m posting this super late today, but Momma’s been busy :)
It has become a new Christmas tradition of mine to read the latest releases of Biblioasis’ Haunted Bookshelf series around the holidays. Each year they release three previously-published ghost stories but with the additions of illustrations by Seth, meant to revive the Victorian tradition of reading ghost stories on Christmas Eve. I’ve done this a…
A little worse for wear, but still reading and eating chocolate, so basically everything’s fine. How did we get to December 16 already?
Technically this is a product + book review, because not only do I regale my viewers with (somewhat) insightful comments on Kim Thuy’s latest book Vi, but I also review some local chocolate by Master Chocolat! Yes, I’m really taking to this chocolate blogging thing, it’s a true passion of mine. I’ve also changed my…
I’m getting into the festive Halloween spirit here by reviewing a ‘spooky’ book by Craig Davidson: The Saturday Night Ghost Club. Notice the extra effort I’ve put into this video-I included Halloween decorations on my bookshelf! That’s about as crafty as I get unfortunately, but nonetheless here it is. I should have mentioned that this…
So onto my next video review. The book I review below is called Waking Lions by Ayelet Gundar-Goshen, and I picked it up because of the premise-it’s timely and unique. It’s also a translation, which prompted me to read it because I love exploring books from cultures and languages other than my own, it’s like…
Wowza, ok this video is way more up-close and personal than I had hoped for this early in the morning. No make-up, not even brushed teeth in this one, but I really enjoyed today’s short story so you have a glowing review to look forward to. Oh, and Smokey makes an appearance too, as does…

When you record these videos, are you thinking of me on the other end watching? lol. I ask because I think I’m usually the first one to watch your advent videos (with my husband, of course!). We were talking about your camera–does yours have an auto-focus feature? If so, turn that off. Get your husband to focus for you, or have him sit where you will sit and you can focus, and THEN do your video. That might help with the shifting focus! If you’re not sure, Google your camera brand and the year it was made for help.
Ok this is very helpful!!! I will try this for tomorrow’s video :)
And yes, sometimes I am thinking of you guys watching haha
😘
It’s much nicer in the H&O collection, but here is the/a link for story 2 from the Short Story Advent Calendar 2018: http://thecollagist.com/the-collagist/2015/10/6/slower.html
Thanks Cathy!
Sounds a bit depressing – thank goodness you have the chocolate on hand to restore your joie de vivre! I like the look of that one – does it have a filling?
Yes! The 3D ones have ganache fillings, and they are delish!
Oh that does sound sad. I know anything with kids hits me much harder now than it did before I had one.
me too! It’s terrible actually
