Book Review: This Has Nothing To Do With You by Lauren Carter
Recording a book review for book tube was a great excuse to brush my hair and put on a little make-up, so I did just that for my latest read, This Has Nothing To Do With You by Lauren Carter. I still wore stretchy pants though, there’s no way I’m needlessly wearing jeans while this pandemic continues…
This book was published by a local press, Freehand Books, and I encourage everyone to pick up a book that is locally published or written right now, your local publishing industry needs your support! Make your purchase extra-ethical by buying it from a local independent bookstore; so many are now offering delivery. Amazon doesn’t need the boost right now, but your local business certainly does.
I started to read this a few weeks ago and just loved it so much that I stopped reading it. Does that ever happen to you? Like you’re so sure the book is going to be a perfect match for you, that you are hesitant to read on, in case the actual book shatters your belief that you’re made for each other, book and reader? :D Anyhow, I will get back to it. And I’m sure it won’t disappoint. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it too and found it an occasion for hair-brushing and hailing the importance of supporting indie publishers and indie bookshops too!
This will sound weird, but the only book I stopped reading, and then started again was Ducks, Newburyport (for obvious reason). I just push my way to the end regardless of how i feel about it…
