  1. I always struggle with the concept of books framed as letters because if I received a book-length letter from someone I’d assume they’d gone insane! Diaries work better…

    1. I totally agree FF, it’s a weak framing technique, and in this case, completely unnecessary!

    1. It’s a nice little life-affirming read, other than my petty complaints, which are more ‘book reviewerish’ in nature if you know what i mean LOL

  2. I haven’t read this author, but I got the vibe that he’s a lot like Jonathan Safran Foer. Remember him from back in the day? He’d write these characters that suddenly spouted words of wisdom, like we were on a collective LSD trip learning about the beauty of life, only to remember, oh, yeah, the protagonist is nine. I do, however, like quirky books with animals, etc. I especially enjoyed The Hike by Drew Magary.

    1. I never read Safran Foer but I do vaguely remember hearing about him. But yes, this sounds very similar to that – lots of wisdom spouting LOL
      I’m with you though, I love a good animal counterpart

  3. The voice in the quote you’ve selected does intrigue me. But I’m not sure. Anyway, I don’t have time to think about it, because I was just in the middle of writing to my high-school math teacher for some life advice.
