Video Book Review: Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter
So I feel quite foolish that this is the first Karin Slaughter book I’ve ever read. She’s an America superstar thriller writer that everyone but me is familiar with, as she’s sold over 35 million books and even has a section of her website dedicated to selling t-shirts with her name on them. Where have I been? Why did it take me so long to discover her? I’m ashamed to call myself a book reviewer when I realize what a large oversight this is, especially within one of my favourite genres. Oh well, I’ll just rejoice in the fact that I’ve found a new author to get excited about it, even if she’s only new to me. Check out my video below where I review her 2018 release, Pieces of Her. I’ve got another one of her books on my TBR pile so hopefully I’ll get to that one soon! In the meantime, I highly recommend Pieces of Her, it’s got a stunner of a start and doesn’t fall into the common traps that modern-day thriller writers seem to keep stumbling over. And Netflix is releasing a television series based on the book shortly, so you’ve got that to look forward to.
I’d never heard of Karin Slaughter before your review, so you’re not alone! I looked her up on my library’s catalog and found that we have loads of her books, but I likely did not notice because I work in reference, not fiction. How is she tied to Jack Reacher? I thought another author wrote those books.
I haven’t read anything by her either! She always sounds a bit too gruesome for my taste, not helped, it must be said, by her name. I’ve often wondered if that was her real name or a pen name so thanks for that info. I’ll maybe try her one of these days, though I’m a bit scared since she seems to be incredibly prolific. What if I love her? My poor TBR… ;)
Hmm not sure about the Jack Reacher connection, perhaps she just wrote about him in some of her fiction?
