  1. I love the idea of stories about Hawai’i. My understanding of it as a kid was my Hawai’ian Barbie. (I loved her and she still lives with me!) This book would have been very helpful, in taking me beyond a plastic lei and beachwear.
Those concepts in Life is a Flower sound very appealing for a children’s story.
And how did the kids interact with the pages without words, did they feel like there were things to observe and talk about, or did they just sit quietly?

    1. Generally I ask them questions when we hit a page with no words – I ask them to tell me what’s happening, what they notice, etc. Books with no words are more and more common so I feel like they are getting more used to it.

  2. Wow, I’m impressed with these picture books! You kids are lucky to get to read such cool books. The Hawaii one looks fun – it made me laugh when you said kids will complain about literally anything.

    1. You’re a mom Laila, you know it’s true – they will complain about ANYTHING! haha

  3. Time is a Flower looks beautiful. My niece would love this one. She just turned 6, and it’s so funny when I read to her because she tries to say my sentences at the same time as me.
