Video Review: The Italian Teacher by Tom Rachman
After a short hiatus from my booktube reviews, I’m back with a new one: The Italian Teacher by Tom Rachman. As I mention in the recording, this is the July pick for my book club (register for the discussion here if you’re interested and live in Calgary!), and I really enjoyed it. Didn’t think I would, but this book really surprised me.
I also bring Smokey into the picture so you can all see how she is coping with the loss of her sister. We’re all doing fine, thank you for the really kind comments and well wishes everyone has sent. Oh, and my hair looks extra weird in this video, but when you have a newborn, things like ‘brushing your hair’ and ‘showering regularly’ fall by the wayside.
Well since I am Italian I probaly need to read this one.
definitely!
How did I never notice Smokey has a lil mustache! Cuuute! I just started a historical fiction novel last night about Vincent Van Gogh and his last days. So far, I like it, though I’m waiting for it to get silly because it’s by Christopher Moore. I saw a mind-blowing film not long ago called Loving Vincent that is put together like an old cartoon, but instead of being hand drawn, EVERY frame is a painting created in the style of Van Gogh! Hundreds of artists and thousands of painters were involved.
Whoa! That sounds like a good movie. And yes, Smokey’s mustache is quite the attention grabber hahah
It’s a sad, slow film, and the making of it and the visuals are BREATHTAKING.
That IS a beautiful cover. Nice to see you and Smokey again. You are both lovely as always!
Aw shucks-thanks!
I’m glad to hear you liked this so much. I really liked his last book, and have heard good things about his first one, too (which I own but haven’t read). I agree – the cover is gorgeous! I’m hoping I’ll eventually find it at a book sale or thrift store, so I can put it on my shelf!
I’m glad to see Smokey and hear she’s doing okay! :)
