  1. LOL! I’m, of course, picturing pirates on Zoom meetings now. All the rules of politeness for Zoom meetings….I mean, we haven’t even agreed on what those are. Have you seen these debates about whether children can eat a snack during Zoom class time? Imagine how a pirate would handle such restrictions….

    I will say this: both Jackie @ Death by Tsundoku and I have been utter ruined by Muppet Treasure Island and will maintain until death that the pirate life is for us.

  2. This sounds quite good! And it’s kind of refreshing to hear about pirates being given an accurate historical portrayal rather than the usual romanticized view we have of them.

  3. Wow, I love the breadth of your reading life, Anne! I can’t say this is a book that would tempt me but I can see why it might appeal. What a heartbreaking image of the slaves deliberately walking into the sea.

    1. It was so powerful and haunting Laila, I had to take a break after reading it, it was so upsetting. But yes, overall a great book. And it’s funny, I never thought of my reading as having a lot of variation, but I’m glad to hear it does!

  4. I can’t decide whether or not I want to read this. His first book was more like a western – I didn’t read that one either, but it’s interesting that he did a western and then pirates. I wonder what will be next?
