  1. When I read “Kevin vows to remain in their apartment until Amber returns home,” I almost choked! I think what the sentence means is that he refuses to leave even if she wants him out, but I read it more as he wasn’t leaving the apartment anyway, so now he has a good excuse, like he’s doing something noble even though he’s just doing what he was doing.

    1. Yes that’s exactly Melanie – he thinks he’s doing something noble, but he’s very misguided sadly

  2. I loved this one, too! But I haven’t read the short story that comes first – so now I want to.
This is another one of those books that’s funny and depressing at the same time!

  3. The short story behind this novel was clear in my mind for so many years after reading it that I little-girl-clapped when I heard this was out. When I found the right time to read it, I burst through it in no time at all (and immediately wish I hadn’t, for plot reasons, because I won’t be able to reread it without the knowledge I have now about how things go): it’s so addictive, so thoughtful, so smart. Your point about how it almost feels like a rom com with all the pop culture references….I loved this aspect of the work, so entertaining. And both characters were wholly believable for me…even though they also seemed too-much and larger-than-life at times too. Do you think she’ll write a sequel? I’d hope for a short story sequel at least. Hee hee

    1. Oh I’d love a sequel!! I doubt she’ll do one, just because they are so rare in the literary world, but I would happily be proven wrong :)
