    1. Yes definitely a Jodi Picoult vibe – in fact I get them mixed up together all the time

    1. This should be an easy one to find and purchase – any local bookstore will definitely have it, or indigo.ca will for sure

  1. Somewhat recently, I read her memoir. She talks about how she was athletic her whole life, but she was always trying to be smaller. Like many of us, she talks about how when she looks at old photos, she looks strong, not fat, even though she thought she was fat at the time. She even got a scholarship on the rowing team. Eventually, I do know that Jennifer Weiner got the stomach surgery to lose weight. It makes me sad that she felt like she had to do that, but much like Roxane Gay has said, carving yourself up and having permanent malnutrition as a result to lose weight is done for society, not the individual. I think Weiner is part of that generation when they were told for so long that they had to be thin, that now that those same people are now on a journey of self-esteem about their body, but it’s still tainted with messages about health and feeling good, convinced that people who aren’t as thin don’t feel good and couldn’t possibly be healthy.

    2. They’re not healthy. They become chronically malnourished, which is why they must take a crap-ton of vitamins daily. A lot of folks look sallow and lose hair, brittle nails, etc.
