  1. I’m so glad you enjoyed this so much. And I love the thought of it traveling to another reader. I think I wasn’t in the right headspace for it maybe. I did like it, but it felt too slow for my taste. But the sense of dread and atmosphere was great!

    1. It was definitely slow!!! You aren’t wrong about that. I was reading this among my spooky Halloween decorations which definitely helped haha

  2. I like stories about rooming houses and boarding schools, the way that people are brought together temporarily (although it sounds like just one lodger is enough in this particular story!).

  3. FictionFan also got me to read this book! O thought the scene during which the daughter and policeman visit the crime museum, it whatever it was, was so eerie. The necks of the hanged men there in replication, etc. I think this book benefits a great deal from being listened to on audio. It’s like a play, almost. I then got my mom to listen to this novel, so yeah, it spread like talking fire across the globe! Here is my review: https://grabthelapels.com/2017/08/21/the-lodger/

    1. FF got Laila to read this book too! I remember when you reviewed it, which solidified in my mind that i eventually had to read it too
