Today I spoke about Claire Mulligan‘s The Dark, and Andrew Pyper’s The Demonologist on the radio! Every Monday throughout the summer I’ll be on the air giving some advice on what should be next on your reading list. I’m hoping my frequent ‘ums’ will get less frequent once August hits and I settle into the idea of being live on the CBC. See below for the full segment.

Congratulations — CBC could not have made a better choice. Although I have to admit neither one of these two fits my taste. My own favorite summer reads do tend to be “lighter” with a generous dose of “plot” — I think Donna Tartt’s The Secret History is probably the classic example. I took it along for a cottage holiday in the summer that it appeared and I think it was read by at least five of the people who were there.
Thanks Kevin-I hope to feature a wide range of books on the show, at least one or two things will appeal to everyone hopefully. A good plot line is a definite must for summer reading!
